Rob Barbato
Rob Barbato is an Austin based multi instrumentalist, composer, producer and creative director.
He has toured and recorded as a side man of the critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Cass McCombs, as well as being a member of the seminal UK post-punk band The Fall. As a composer he has scored five feature length films which include Montana Story (which premiered in competition at TIFF in 2021), Pinball : The Man Who Saved the Game (named one of the top 10 films by The New Yorker in 2023) and All Things Sacred (which premiered at The Telluride Film Festival in 2023).
He has produced records for such notable acts as Kevin Morby, Vivian Girls, and Bleached. As composer he collaborated with Waxahatchee on the music for Apple TV+ the adaptation of the award winning graphic novel, El Deafo by Cece Bell. He has also scored shows for ESPN, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and IFC. In the ad space Rob contributed as a composer for campaigns for Apple, Nike, Adidas, Starz, Audi, BMW, Jeep to name a few. His arrangement of “Beautiful Dreamer” for Canon’s “Inspired” spot garnered him an Emmy and a Silver Lion at Cannes.
